More torque at low revs. This contradiction is what we strive to overcome.
The development goal for Audi’s new generation of engines is to provide plenty of torque specifically at low engine speeds. Our FSI engines with the Audi valvelift system and the new TDI® common rail engines demonstrate this particularly well. The competition-beating torque level means the transmission ratios in the higher gears can be pushed up without compromising longitudinal dynamics. The result is lower revving and improved fuel economy.
